To add a twist to Virginia’s state tourism slogan; Virginia is for…travel nurses! Virginia consistently ranks near the top of some of the most desirable destinations for travel nursing jobs. And it’s easy to see why. Virginia has so much to offer; amazing scenic beauty, famous historic sites, fun nightlife, and great weather. It’s all there within a short drive for travel nurses.
For travel RNs interested in exploring travel nursing jobs in Virginia, Go Healthcare Staffing has compiled a short list of attractions that we feel make Virginia a very compelling opportunity for travel nursing assignments.
- Historic sites. Entire books could be written about historic sites to visit in Virginia. While we won’t attempt to list them all, we feel some “must-sees” would be; the White House, the Capital Building, The Smithsonian Institute, the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument, Appomattox Courthouse, the Jefferson Memorial and Arlington National Cemetery.
- Scenic tours. Virginia is home to some of the most beautiful scenic sites in the US, boasting “Eight Natural Wonders” that thrill thousands of visitors each year and 36 state parks. Among the top destinations are Natural Tunnel State Park, Great Falls Park, Great Dismal Swamp Wildlife Refuge, Burke’s Garden, and Break’s Interstate Park.
- Fun places for good food and drink. Not only does Northern Virginia offer a wide variety of restaurants and dining experiences, but it’s become a very popular area for wineries, micro-breweries and distilleries. In the popular Falls Church/Alexandria/Northern Virginia area alone, there are more than 20 breweries and distilleries creating some of the finest beers, wines and spirits on the East Coast.
- Sports Lovers. The Northern Virginia area is a hotbed for sports activities – either to watch or to participate. DC boasts teams in all major pro sports – NFL, NBA, NHL and MLB – while offering great college teams to root for. For those that want to get off the couch and into the action, Virginia offers plenty of golf courses, tennis clubs, hiking trails and other participatory opportunities to get the muscles moving!
