For first time travel nurses, understanding the credentialing specialist role in a healthcare staffing firm is an important part of the travel process. Go Healthcare Staffing has an experienced credentialing specialist on staff to help guide our travel nurses through the credentialing process to ensure all the “paperwork” involved with each healthcare facility goes smoothly and eliminates much of the work for our travel nurses. Here we have compiled a list of responsibilities that our credentialing specialist covers to help with the understanding of the credentialing specialist role and to ensure our team and our nurses work effectively together.
- Assists Travelers with Joint Commissions and Hospital Specific Requirements to be compliant for contract
- Ensure consistent documentation and complete verification of traveler’s credentials including state licenses, education, pre-employment requirements and certifications prior to start date of assignment with facility.
- Communicate via direct telephone call, email and text with traveler’s to ensure all required documentations are received on or before due date
- Act as the point of contact for credential files of all caregivers/travelers at corporate office.
- Adhere and maintain the Joint Commission requirements and standards for Go Healthcare Staffing.
- Must be very detail oriented and be able to meet demanding deadlines.
- Schedules Drug Screens and runs Background Checks.
- Can assist with locating and scheduling additional testing needed such as; Titers, Immunizations, TDAP, PPDs, etc locally to the traveler.
- Assists Travelers in locating certifications and certifications renewals as needed
- All certifications must be issued through ww.aha.org- American Heart Association
- Serves as the main point of contact for Document Compliancy for the company.
- Continues to follow up with Traveler while on contract for upcoming expiring documents and certifications.
- The Credentialing Specialist normally contacts the Traveler within 24 to 48 hours depending on the contract start date, after acceptance of the contract by the Traveler.
